Dulwich Hill station


Dulwich Hill station Sydney is a key transport hub in the Inner West suburb of Dulwich Hill, Sydney, New South Wales. It serves as an interchange between the Inner West Light Rail (L1 Dulwich Hill Line) and the former heavy rail line, which is currently undergoing conversion to Sydney Metro standards.History and OverviewThe station opened on 1 February 1895 as Wardell Road when the Bankstown line extended from Sydenham to Belmore. It was renamed Dulwich Hill on 1 July 1920. The heritage-listed station features buildings dating from 1935 and an island platform configuration.In 2014, the adjacent former goods line branch converted to light rail, making Dulwich Hill the terminus of the L1 Inner West Light Rail line, which runs from Central Station through Darling Harbour and the Inner West (23 stops total).A new elevated concourse and footbridge opened in October 2023, providing direct, accessible connection (including lifts) between the heavy rail platforms and the light rail stop.Current Status (as of January 2026)The heavy rail portion (previously part of the T3 Bankstown Line) closed on 30 September 2024 for upgrades as part of the Sydney Metro City & Southwest project.
