Travel to Nakhon Phanom

Visit Nakhon Phanom, a tranquil city on the banks of the Mekong River, brimming with Thai, Lao, Vietnamese, and French cultural charm. In 2026, it remains a popular destination for both spiritual and nature lovers. Getting to Nakhon Phanom (from Bangkok):
By plane: Direct flights to Nakhon Phanom Airport (KOP) with Thai Airways or Air Asia, approximately 1 hour 30 minutes per flight.
By bus: From Mochit 2 Bus Terminal, several VIP bus companies, such as Nakhonchai Air, operate. The journey takes 10-12 hours.
By private car: Approximately 750 km. Take the Friendship Highway (Highway 2) through Nakhon Ratchasima, Khon Kaen, and Maha Sarakham, then enter Highway 23 to reach Nakhon Phanom. Convenient but far.

Popular Tourist Attractions:
1. Phra That Phanom Woramahawihan - The number one landmark. This sacred pagoda contains the Buddha's relics and is associated with those born on Sunday. Those who pray seven times are considered "children of the pagoda," bringing great blessings.

Special! The annual Phra That Phanom Festival in 2026 will be held from January 26th to February 3rd, 2026. It features a procession of Phra Upakut, alms giving, candlelit processions, and a light and sound show. The atmosphere is incredibly lively! Visiting during this time is a fantastic experience!

2. Phaya Sri Sattanakarat - The largest Naga statue in Isaan, located on the banks of the Mekong River. Pray for good fortune and enjoy beautiful views of Laos in the evening.

3. Nakhon Phanom Walking Street (Indochina Market) - Open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Sample local food, buy souvenirs, and enjoy the Mekong River view at night with live music. A very relaxing atmosphere.

4. Mekong River View - Cycle or stroll along Sunthorn Vichit Street, admire the mountains on the Laos side, and breathe in the fresh air, especially during sunset.

5. Phra That Marukhanakhon - The pagoda associated with those born on Wednesday nights; uniquely beautiful.
