Bang Pu Recreation Center in Samut Prakan province is a famous tourist attraction near Bangkok known for watching migratory seagulls escaping the cold, especially the sight of flocks of birds swooping down for food over the sea.
Located on the Gulf of Thailand, the center features the Sukhta Bridge and Sukhjai Pavilion as its highlights. Seagulls (mostly black-backed gulls from Siberia, Russia, and Northern Asia) migrate here during the winter months, approximately from October to April each year (peaking in December-January). You can buy bags of pork rinds (bird food) for 20-50 baht and feed them to the birds up close, creating a beautiful spectacle, especially during sunset. Currently (January 2026), it's definitely the peak season for bird sightings, so visiting in the late afternoon or evening is ideal for seeing the largest flocks. Admission and parking are free, and it's easily accessible from Bangkok.
