Tha Phra Chan is an old neighborhood along the Chao Phraya River in Bangkok, located at the end of Phra Chan Road, next to Thammasat University (Tha Phra Chan Campus), Phra Borom Maha Ratchawang Subdistrict, Phra Nakhon District. It is both a ferry pier and a historical community famous for its market of amulets and sacred objects. The name comes from "Phra Chan Fort," built during the reign of King Rama I to protect the western city walls. Later, during the reign of King Rama V, the area developed into a port and trading community. Locals say that the full moon was particularly beautiful in this area, hence the name "Tha Phra Chan" (Moon Pier). Today, it is a ferry pier to Wang Lang (Siriraj Hospital) and Phra Pin Klao. Tourist attractions and highlights include: Tha Phra Chan Amulet Market → One of the largest and oldest amulet markets in Thailand, with shops selling amulets, sacred objects, coins, cast coins, Phra Pidta amulets, and amulet framing equipment.
